Te Araroa Trail - a virtual walk today.

Tonight we watched Freebird's  Te Araroa Trail DVD.
Wonderful photographs of an epic walk from Cape Reinga in the north to Bluff in the south. Around 3000km.

All I need to do is connect some of the places that I have walked on the Te Araroa trail this year....!!

 Queen Charlotte Track

 Lake Rotoiti
 Glenorchy
 Mt Eden
 One Tree Hill

In the meantime...

Come walk with me on Rangitoto Island this Thursday 28 February.
We are leaving on Fullers ferry at Pier 2 at 9.15am.   We will return at 12.45pm.
If you want to join us please send me an email pearlsonwheels@gmail.com or just turn up at the ferry terminal.
Strong shoes, sunhat, sunscreen and water are necessary.

Walking on a volcano - Maungawhau Mt Eden

A glorious day for a walk up Mt Eden.
We are assured of wonderful views.
I last walked here when I did the Coast to Coast Walkway with Marie and Guinny.
Let's go off road and up through the paddocks.

Come walk with me.

 Standing Tall
 Tinder dry grasses crunch underfoot.
Cows that used to keep the grass trimmed have been removed.

Up we go.
Auckland has 60 extinct volcanoes. Mt St John in the foreground with Mt Hobson beyond.
Rangitoto Island, many yachts in the Waitemata Harbour and Coromandel Peninsula in the background.
 Mt Eden Maungawhau crater.

The Sky tower and Auckland harbour bridge to the north of the crater.
From the west to the east.

One Tree Hill, Maungakeiki in the distance surrounded by the leafy suburb of Epsom
